A robust evergreen that forms dense clumps of leafy culms. Leaves are shiny bright green with strap-like appearance. When in bloom, arching flowering culms rise above the foliage bearing grayish-green fringe-like spikelets. Female flowers are followed which produce small fruits incased in sac-like bracts. Rhizomatous, average growth rate.
