These shade-loving, rhizomatous, clump-forming perennials bear narrow, shiny green leaves with yellow to yellow-white margins, with the petioles maturing to show red speckling. Bright lavender bell-shaped flowers bloom on one-sided racemes atop tall bracted scapes. Moderate growth rate.
