Sanguinaria canadensis (Bloodroot)

Single stems hold one deeply cleft leaf that completely envelops a flower bud which opens to reveal a white, multi-petalled flower that rises slightly above the leaf. The flower opens at full sun and closes at night. Moderate growth rate.
