White bell-shaped flowers that appear in spring are followed by red berries in fall. A dense mat of leathery, dark green, shiny, leaves that turn bronze in colder months serve as winter foliage. When branches mature they turn a brick-red/brown, while the bark peels and takes on a parchment-like appearance.
