Light pink flowers that are shaped like bells bloom in spring, followed by scarlet berries. A dense mat of leathery, dark green, shiny, leaves that turn red-bronze in colder months serve as winter foliage. When branches mature they turn a brick-red/brown, while the bark peels and takes on a parchment-like appearance.
